D. House, Ripon:

    Client:   Private Client
    Architect:   Terrence Kiernan Associates
    Quantity Surveyor:   Michael Ayres
    Contract Period:   52 weeks

The project involved the construction of a ‘new barn’ comprising of agricultural storage on the ground floor, with living accommodation on the first floor. The owners were keen to have the exterior fabric and interior décor in keeping with the main house and therefore a mixture of modern and traditional materials were used.

The building was constructed with a stone outer and double internal skin finished with Yorkshire slate roof tiles. The internal trusses, purlings and beams along with the doors and flooring were all made from solid oak.
